Portraits Gallery

These are samples of my portraiture in the studio.  I’ve been an architectural photographer for so long, that I tend to take the photojournalistic approach in the studio.  I rarely bring the tripod out for a portrait shoot.

I try to get to know the people I’m shooting, and I work to keep them bantering and laughing.  I encourage them to interact with one another and to relax.  Then I zoom in (physically and with the lens) and try to capture candid moments.

This approach yields more natural poses and more dramatic compositions then can be had in a more traditional studio format.
